How auctions work
Let buyers bid against each other, so your phone sells for the best price.
Get the best price with an auction
- Start an auctionWhen you post your phone, choose Post for auction instead of a fixed price. Set a starting price, for example Rs 80,000, and choose how many days it runs: 1, 3, 5 or 7. You can add a Buy it now price, and a hidden lowest price you will accept, so you never have to sell too cheap.
- Buyers bidBuyers sign in free and place a bid. Each new bid must be higher than the last one by a small step. No deposit is needed. Your number stays hidden from bidders, so you only talk to the winner.
- Price goes upWhen someone bids more, the other buyers get told, so they can bid again. A bid in the last 5 minutes adds 5 more minutes, so everyone gets a fair chance. Just like a mandi, the price keeps climbing.
- Timer endsWhen the time is over, the highest bid wins the phone. If someone taps Buy it now, the auction ends at once. If the bids did not reach your hidden lowest price, you do not have to sell, and you can restart the auction or switch to a fixed price.
- Meet and sellThe seller and the winner see each other's number. Meet in a safe public place, let the winner check the phone, and take the payment in person. If the winner does not come, you can offer the phone to the next highest bidder.
Good to know
- A lower starting price brings more bidders, and more bidders push the price up.
- Set a hidden lowest price so you never have to sell too cheap.
- Once someone bids, the price and auction settings are locked until it ends.
- Bidders need a free account with a confirmed phone number, so bids are real.
