Fixed Price or Auction: Which Is Better for Selling Your Phone?
04 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
On VerifiedPhones you can sell your phone in two ways: a normal ad with a fixed price, or an auction where buyers bid against each other. Both are free. Here is how to choose.
Fixed price is better when
- You already know the exact price you want.
- You are happy to talk to buyers on call, WhatsApp or Messages.
- Your phone is a common budget model where prices are well known.
- You are in no hurry and can wait for the right buyer.
Auction is better when
- You want buyers to compete instead of bargaining with you one by one.
- Your phone is popular, such as an iPhone or Samsung flagship, so many people will bid.
- You want to sell within a fixed time: 1, 3, 5 or 7 days.
- You are tired of "last price?" calls. In an auction, the price speaks for itself.
Quick comparison
- Speed: an auction ends on a fixed day. A fixed price ad can take longer.
- Price: a fixed price gives you exactly what you ask, if someone pays it. An auction can go higher when several buyers want the phone.
- Safety on price: with an auction, set a hidden "lowest price I'll accept", so you never have to sell too cheap.
- Calls: a fixed price ad shows your number to signed-in buyers. In an auction, your number goes only to the winner.
Our advice
Not sure? Try an auction first. If nobody bids, you can switch the ad to a fixed price with one tap, and nothing is lost.
