How to Sell a Dead, Faulty or Water-Damaged Phone in Pakistan

07 Jul 2026 · 3 min read

A phone that does not work is not useless. Its screen, battery, camera, board and body all have value to repair shops and to people who fix phones themselves. Here is how to turn your dead or faulty phone into cash.

What counts as faulty?

  • Does not turn on at all
  • Turns on but keeps restarting
  • Water damage
  • Charging port broken
  • No signal or network problems
  • Camera, speaker or microphone not working
  • Face ID or fingerprint not working
  • Locked to an account you cannot remove

First, check if it is something simple

Before you sell it as dead, try:

  • Charging it for 30 minutes with a different cable and charger
  • A forced restart (search for your exact model's button combination)
  • Cleaning the charging port gently with a wooden toothpick

Sometimes a "dead" phone just has a dirty port or a bad cable.

Should you repair first?

Get a quote. If the repair is cheap and the phone is valuable, repair it and sell it as working. If the repair is expensive or uncertain, for example water damage or board faults, it is usually better to sell as it is.

How to price a faulty phone

There is no fixed price. It depends on what still works. As a rough guide:

  • A flagship with only one faulty part can still be worth a good amount.
  • A phone with board damage is valued mainly for parts.
  • Budget phones that are dead are worth very little.

Look for similar faulty ads on VerifiedPhones, and ask one or two repair shops what they would pay. That gives you a floor price.

Write an honest ad

Put the fault in the title, for example "Samsung S21 Ultra, not turning on, for parts". In the description, say:

  • What is wrong and what still works
  • What you have already tried
  • Whether the phone is PTA approved
  • Whether it is locked to an account

Honesty here is essential. Repair-minded buyers know what to look for, and a clear description brings serious offers.

Personal data on a dead phone

If the phone will not turn on, you cannot reset it. Remove it from your Google account (myaccount.google.com, then Security, then Your devices) or Apple ID (icloud.com/find, then Remove This Device), and change important passwords. Take out the SIM and memory card.

Never sell a phone you know is stolen or blacklisted

If the IMEI is blocked, say so clearly. Selling a stolen phone is a crime. See how to check if a phone is stolen.
