How to Negotiate With Buyers When Selling Your Phone

17 Jul 2026 · 3 min read

In Pakistan, almost every buyer bargains. That is normal and you should expect it. The trick is to plan for it, stay polite and know your lowest price before the first call.

Decide your lowest price first

Before you post, decide two numbers:

1. Asking price. What you put in the ad, a little above market value.
2. Lowest price. The least you will accept.

The gap between them is your bargaining room. Read how to price a used phone to set them well.

Handling low offers

You will get messages like "Last kitna?" or offers far below your price. Stay calm:

  • Way too low: "Sorry, that is too low. The phone is in great condition, my price is fair." Then move on.
  • Close but low: "I can do a little less, but not that much. How about [middle number]?"
  • Reasonable: Accept, or meet halfway.

Never get angry. A buyer who lowballs today might come back tomorrow with a fair offer.

Do not drop the price on the phone

Many buyers try to settle the price before seeing the phone, then bargain again at the meeting. Say: "Please see the phone first. If you like it, we can talk about the price." This stops double bargaining.

Use honesty as strength

If your ad already mentions every scratch and the battery health, the buyer has less to argue about at the meeting. "Yes, that scratch is in the photos" is hard to bargain against.

Spotting time-wasters

  • They ask many questions but never agree to meet.
  • They want you to send the phone first or courier it.
  • They offer more than your price and ask for advance details. This is often a scam.
  • They keep changing the meeting place or time.

Politely stop replying. See common phone scams.

Small extras can close the deal

If the buyer is close to your price, offer something instead of more money: a case, a screen protector, or the original charger. It often closes the deal without lowering your price.

Know when to lower your price

If you get many calls but everyone offers the same lower amount, the market is telling you something. Lower your price a little in the ad. If you get no calls at all, read why your ad is not getting calls.
