You can sell your mobile today. Most phones that sell within a day or two have the same things in common: a fair price, clear photos, an honest description and a seller who answers quickly. This checklist walks you through every step in the right order, so nothing is forgotten and nothing goes wrong on the day you meet the buyer.
Step 1: Back up everything you want to keep
Before anything else, save your photos, contacts and chats. Turn on Google Photos or iCloud backup, back up WhatsApp from its settings, and copy anything important to a laptop or USB. Our guide on backing up WhatsApp and photos before selling shows exactly where each setting is.
Step 2: Check your PTA status
Buyers will ask if the phone is PTA approved. Dial `*#06#` to see the IMEI, then send it by SMS to 8484 or check it on DIRBS. Read how to check PTA status online if you have not done it before. Step 3: Decide your price
Search for the same model, storage and condition on live ads and note what similar phones are asking. Price slightly above the middle so there is room to negotiate. The full method is in how to price a used phone.
Step 4: Clean the phone and gather the extras

Step 5: Take good photos
Use daylight near a window, a plain background and at least five photos: front, back, sides, screen on, and any marks. Clear photos get far more calls. Our photo guide has more tips.
Step 6: Run a free health test
A phone health test checks the screen, speakers, camera and sensors in your browser and puts a "Health checked" report on your ad. Buyers trust a tested phone more and ask fewer questions.
Step 7: Post your free ad

Step 8: Answer buyers quickly

Step 9: Reset the phone just before you hand it over
